Emmsie Wallis's 24 Hour Walking Challenge at The Oval: part of the Sixes at the Summit - Highest Altitude Cricket Match Record
22465
On Friday 11th December at 3pm, I’ll be taking on a 24-hour walking challenge around The Oval Cricket Ground to raise money for two incredible charities: A Day for Thorpey Fund (Mind) and Rays of Sunshine as part of the Sixes at the Summit expedition.
For the full 24 hours, I’ll be walking without music, podcasts or radio, creating space for something that sits at the heart of A Day for Thorpey and Mind: conversation.
My aim is to use this time to focus on the importance of human connection and mental wellbeing. Whether that means catching up with friends and family, connecting with complete strangers or using the quieter stints walking alone to reflect and take a step back from everyday life.
This is just part one of a much bigger challenge. Early in 2027, I’ll be joining a group of people on a two-week expedition to Chile to attempt the Guinness World Record for the highest-altitude cricket match, played at 6,000m on Ojos del Salado, the highest volcano on Earth.
Anyone who knows me and the state of my knees will appreciate quite what a task this will be!
The expedition will raise funds for A Day for Thorpey Fund (Mind) and Rays of Sunshine, supporting their work in mental health and bringing joy to seriously ill children.
Any donation or company for a few laps would be hugely appreciated. Thank you for supporting me and these two brilliant charities.
