KMs of Purpose: Support Tim and Yogi’s Ride Around Italy and its Islands

There are journeys we choose, and journeys that choose us. This one began quietly, with a bike, a valley, and the sense that the road ahead was asking something of me long before I ever touched it. As I prepare to ride across Italy — from the mountains of Piemonte to the wild edges of Sardinia, from the deep south to the restless heart of Rome — I’m riding for more than distance. I’m riding for the people and organisations who stand beside others when life becomes difficult. This GiveWheel campaign supports six charities (three Italian ones to be announced), whose work reflects courage, service, and the quiet strength found in communities that refuse to look away. Their missions range from supporting police officers and soldiers injured in the line of duty to empowering young cadets to honouring the service of Italy’s finest and their youth groups. Each one represents a thread of resilience, duty, and hope — values I want to carry with me on every kilometre of this journey. The ride itself will unfold slowly, over months and seasons. I’m still training in the Val di Susa, still preparing, still waiting for the trailer that will allow Yogi to join me on the road (planned departure is currently the 18th May 2026). But the purpose is already clear: to turn every climb, every quiet mile, every moment of doubt or discipline into something that helps someone else stand a little taller. You’re supporting the people who give their lives to service, the young people learning to lead, and the volunteers who show up when the world needs steady hands. As the route unfolds, I’ll be announcing open days where other cyclists can join me for sections of the ride.
