Nick's MND Ball - This ball is about more than fundraising. It’s about fun, positivity, independence, and living life to the full, even when the road becomes harder to walk. Above all, it’s about Nick

We're really looking forward to a great evening on 12th of June celebrating Nick and raising money to support Nick and the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
Many people who can't join us for the night itself have very kindly asked for a way of contributing, so here you go!
Nick's Story...
Nick has always lived life fully; surrounded by family and friends, and mostly outdoors.
His spare time was spent gardening, cycling and walking, with challenging pub to pub footpath holidays a favourite pastime. In 2022, Nick was in his element walking the first stretches of the breathtaking South West Coast Path with Jill, savouring both the scenery and relishing the challenge.
Then, slowly and unexpectedly, things began to change.
Floppy feet, weakening legs and unexplained falls marked the beginning of a long and uncertain three year journey, which finally led to a devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease in June 2023.
MND is a relentless and progressive condition. The road has become steeper and more challenging, and continues to rise ahead. Nick now walks with orthotic supports and is beginning to experience weakness in his hands and arms. But despite everything, his determination, humour and outlook remain firmly intact.
Nick's mantra has been “do what I can do, and don’t dwell on what I can’t.”
And so, rather than retreating, Nick has found new ways to keep moving forward.
One of those came in the form of an e-assist tricycle. With it, he was back out on the road, and finding fresh challenges. In 2024 alone, he and his trike covered over 3,000 miles, including an extraordinary seven-day, 444-mile ride from Suffolk to Sennen. It was a life-affirming journey filled with ups, down, laughter, community and purpose.
Thanks to incredible support and generosity that ride, alongside his non-stop community endeavours, Nick has raised over £50,000 (and counting) for MND charities. His tireless fundraising for the community he now finds himself unwillingly part of speaks volumes for Nick’s relentless positivity and perennial selflessness.
As walking becomes more difficult, Nick now also relies on 'Mustang Sally', his electric buggy, which allows him to continue joining family and friends on walks near and far. Some abilities have been lost. Many have changed. But Nick refuses to let MND define what he can’t do, instead choosing to celebrate what he can, and find purpose in helping others.
