Run for Mum

My brother Johnny came up with the idea to run 600 miles in 2026 to raise money for four cancer charities. I decided the best way to support him was to join him — and take on the 600 miles myself.
My 11-year-old daughter, Darcie, also wants to support us and run as much as she can alongside me and Johnny. She’s even aiming for 600 miles too!
Recently, our mam was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. She will be undergoing 6 weeks of chemotherapy, 5 weeks of radiotherapy, and brachytherapy.
Cancer has affected our family and friends over the years — my Dad and Granda beat it, but we sadly lost my Uncle to it. So this cause is incredibly close to our hearts.
I’ll be donating 25% of the funds raised to each of these charities:
• Friends of the Oaks
• CLAN Cancer Support
• The Eve Appeal (gynaecological cancer research)
• Prostate Cancer UK
For the record, I have never gone out for a run before, and I’m definitely not the fittest — but I am determined to complete this challenge just like my mam is determined to beat cancer.
I’ll be documenting my progress throughout the year. I’ll be running outdoors, on the treadmill, and taking part in park runs. It will be a slow start while I build up stamina, but I’m committed to seeing it through.
I’ve set a target of £600, hoping to raise £1 per mile.
So please — donate if you can, share my posts, and help keep me motivated. Your support means the world to me and my family.
Thank you for reading.
