Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the body's extreme overreaction to any infection. Any of us could be susceptible at any time.
Sepsis kills around 50,000 people in the UK each year making it a bigger killer than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. It can take hold very quickly and needs urgent medical attention.
