About Cure EB
Epidermolysis Bullosa is an incurable, progressive, debilitating and very painful genetic skin condition which causes internal and external blisters at the slightest friction. In its most serious form, it causes wounds that are like having very severe burns, eventually leading to skin cancer. Cure EB exist to find and fund research into treatments and, ultimately, a cure for this devastating disease.
Your Impact
Medical research to find a cure for EB is the only focus of our energies and of your donations. Indeed, 100% of every pound received goes directly to fund our projects, as our costs are fully underwritten. This means that your donations can have an even greater impact.
We have raised over £17 million in 13 years, funding 40 projects including four clinical trials. We focus on innovative projects aiming to correct the genetic faults that cause the problem and those bringing an interim treatment to the bedside.
One of the first projects we funded, EBSTEM in 2013, was published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. ADSTEM followed, with results published in the Journal of American Dermatology. These clinical trials then led to Mission EB, the largest stem cell trial in the country for children with RDEB and Great Ormond Steet Hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospital which reported positive results in 2025.
