Supporting locally-run projects in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya, to provide education, food, access to healthcare, and crisis accommodation to children in desperate need.

About Chaffinch

We are committed to providing access to education, healthcare, food, and crisis accommodation for the most disadvantaged children of the Kibera slum, Nairobi, Kenya.  We do this through partnership with locally-run projects as we strongly believe that it is local people who are best placed to make positive and lasting change in their own communities.
We are currently working with two projects: the Future Stars Development Centre and Bornstar Children's Centre.  The Future Stars Development Centre has a full pre-school and primary school with feeding programmes plus accommodation for children with nowhere else to go.  Bornstar Children's Centre runs a pre-school and lower primary level education particularly targeting orphans and the children of teenage mothers.

Your Impact

We are reaching over 300 children with good, nutritious meals every day and providing education to the same.  We also have a Child Enrichment Programme that supports young people into junior and senior secondary schools to complete this level of their education.  Some of those young people will attend boarding schools and others day schools in the area.
The particular focus of our work is on some of the most disadvantaged children of Kibera including orphans, abandoned children, and those coming from families affected by HIV/AIDS or by alcohol addiction.
