Em finally lost his battle with motor neurone disease on 16th August, here at home on the farm, in my arms.
He didn't want a funeral, or all of us he's left behind feeling sorry for ourselves, or for him. Instead, he asked that we put all of our energies into raising funds for the MNDA (he'd expect us to go at 110mph, and that won't be fast enough or to his standards!). Emlyn would say daily that nobody should have to experience such hopeless suffering. An email for the research he signed up for came through last week, too late for him to take part, making his request to raise funds all the more important to us. When diagnosed he immediately, within 10 minutes, agreed to further blood tests to help with genetic research into MND. As Emlyn spent the majority of his time in a tractor we hope you can join us for a 'tractor run' to raise funds to research a treatment, or ideally a cure, for this cruel disease that paralyses; preventing swallowing and breathing as well as speech loss, and, if that were not enough, the development of frontal lobe dementia.
For those of you not into tractors or unable to join us, this page is for you, to donate and join us in helping meet Em's final wishes. Additional funds raised, will be donated to both Marie Curie and St Michael's Hospice; to support the work which they do for those in need of end of life care. Emlyn and I were very appreciative of all they were able to do for him during his last 5 weeks.
If you would like to take part in the tractor run on 7th September at 10am please 'register' directly with Mandy Phillips, [email protected] or 07884333706 who is organising the event for Emlyn.
We look forward to welcoming you! Many thanks,The Phillips Family
