James Hounsell Hyrox Fundraiser for Calm / Samaritans

This year, I’m stepping way out of my comfort zone, I’ve signed up for HYROX on 17th December 2025, a global fitness race that combines running with functional strength training – but not just as a personal challenge.

I’m raising money for Calm & Samaritans (Bridlington), both great charities that provide life-saving support for people in crisis. Suicide touches far too many lives, affecting colleagues, friends, families, and communities everywhere.

Every day in the UK we lose 18 people to suicide. It’s something that has affected me personally very recently. I hope to contribute in a small way so vital services remain available to those who need them most.

Training will be tough, I can already feel the pain…. but it’s nothing compared to the struggles people face every day when they feel there’s nowhere to turn.
