RUN WITH PURPOSE FOR VETERANS MENTAL HEALTH !
9371
SOMETIMES ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS… AND SOMETIMES THEY RUN 40 MILES FIRST.
Veterans Contact Point (VCP) CEO Len Hardy BEM sadly lost his battle with leukaemia in September 2025. Out of respect for the legend he was—and balancing commitments as an Army Reservist—the decision was made to postpone this challenge until May 2026. A delay, yes… but for the right reasons.
Now, brace yourself.
On Monday 4th May 2026, Scott Caswell will take on a 383-mile endurance challenge in just 5 days. This isn’t just about distance—it’s about raising awareness for mental health for our Military Veterans.
Each day, Scott will:
Run 40 miles
Then jump straight onto a bike for 14 to 80 miles
For five consecutive days.
No, that’s not a typo. Yes, he’s checked the maths. No, we haven’t checked his sanity.
Scott brings with him:
25 years in policing
34 years in the military (Regular and still serving as a Reservist)
Nearly 14 years of "Utterly Mad" charity endurance events
So, while this might sound outrageous to the rest of us, for Scott… it’s apparently a reasonable idea.
This challenge supports two vital causes:
Raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing
Championing military veterans
In his role as Armed Forces Lead for Warwickshire Police, Scott has already been instrumental in strengthening support for serving personnel and veterans. Now, just shy of 53 years old, he’s decided the logical next step is to put his body through five days of sustained punishment.
Naturally.
So, if you can—please donate whatever you’re able. Every contribution helps support the cause and, frankly, justifies what he’s about to put himself through.
The Challenge Route (Army Reserve Unit to Army Reserve Unit):
Day 1: Derby → Coventry
54 miles (40 run / 14 cycle)
Day 2: Coventry → Northampton (via Warwickshire Police HQ)
54 miles (40 run / 14 cycle)
Day 3: Northampton → Barnet
70 miles (40 run / 30 cycle)
Day 4: Barnet → Ashford (via New Scotland Yard)
83 miles (40 run / 43 cycle)
Day 5: Ashford → Portsmouth
122 miles (40 run / 82 cycle)
383 miles. 5 days. One man. A serious cause.
Let’s get behind him.
