Jude Swims!

This summer I am doing 3 big swims: a 5km in Loch Tay, a 10km in Loch Lomond and a 5km in Loch Morlich.These swims will take place over 6 weeks from 16th August, every two weeks. This is the swimming equivalent (apparently) of 2 half marathans and a full marathon. Whilst I have done 5km swims before, the 10km swim will be the furthest I have ever swam in my life!

For previous swim events people have asked if I am fundraising, so this time I am. I am fundraising for two amazing charities who make a difference in the lives of people in North Edinburgh (where I live). The total money raised will be split evenly between them. Here they are:

1. Spartans Community Foundation - www.spartanscf.com/
'Spartans Community Foundation is a charity and social enterprise in North Edinburgh. We aspire to be a valued organisation that helps to improve the quality of people’s lives in a meaningful way, with love, compassion and dignity at the heart of our approach.'
Spartans offers free or low-cost activities in youth work, education, and health and wellbeing.
As a resident of North Edinburgh and as chaplain for the Spartans womens team, I love seeing how the Foundation supports local people and makes a genuine difference in lives.

2. Kids Matter - https://kidsmatter.org.uk
Kids Matter is a community, peer led parenting programme. It equips mums, dads and carers with the tools they need to build strong relationships and strong families, and give every child the chance to thrive in life.
I am involved with running a Kids Matter group in North Edinburgh. I have seen first hand the positive difference this programme makes in the lives of families, including my own. Parents have reported an increase in their confidence and wellbeing, less isolation as a result of friendships and support from the group, an improvement in their relationship with their children and therefore an improvement in their children's wellbeing too.
(Please note - the money raised will go directly to supporting Kids Matter in North Edinburgh. Therefore money raised will not go to the national Kids Matter charity but City on a Hill (a local church) that runs the North Edinburgh Kids Matter. All funds will be ring fenced for Kids Matter.)
