Project 161 x Vault Youth Zone

It all started at an event in 2024 when I 1st heard about OnSide Youth Zones from founder Bill Holroyd CBE DL. His story was inspiring and once I knew one was coming to my home city, Preston, I had do find a way to raise some money.

With the Vault Youth Zone getting ever closer to opening, I am dusting down my bike to ride 1,000 miles in 50 days to provide vital funds that the team can use to support young people for whom the barrier to access is purely financial.

It costs £5 to join, 50p to attend and £1 for a hot meal. All in, twice a week, this is £161. I have a target.

Cyclists tend to use kilometres rather than miles. It's easier for sure, but it also means every ride sounds that bit further. 100 miles, a century ride, is a big milestone for any rider, it's also 161 kilometres too.

10 centuries in 50 days, let's go!
