20 mile non stop swim

I am attempting to swim 20 miles non stop in and 8m pool (4024 lengths and lots of turns)using breaststroke arms only and a swim snorkel to protect my neck.
My reason for this challenge is because of the stories of 2 mums , my friend Kelly and my daughter in law Charlie . Please read their stories and donate as much as you can to help these wonderful charities that have helped 2 families immensely .
CHARLIES STORY

On the 27th of January this year we welcomed our beautiful baby girl Della to the world 8 weeks early. Although Della was a chunky 5lb3oz and a little fighter she needed a 4 week hospital stay at St Peter’s hospital in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit due to some complications.

St Peter’s NICU and all the staff were absolutely incredible and The Little Roo Neonatal Fund made a stressful experience a little lighter.

The charity provide so much for parents and families, never mind the life saving equipment they have provided for the hospital. With out the charity our baby wouldn’t of had use of a high tech scanner to check her brain and lung development, a safe incubator to travel in an ambulance and most importantly a incubator where she spent her first few weeks. The charity also provides keep sakes for parents, snacks and a safe place for parents to take a break and rest.

The charity enables the highest standard of care for an already incredible hospital and team.

We are incredibly lucky to have had our daughter cared for by the team at St Peter’s and to have had not only the best medical equipment and teams for our child, but extras for us as parents and a family to make things just that little bit easy.

We are so proud that Nade (Dellas Naughty Nanny) is swimming 20 miles towards such a wonderful cause to help other families and babies continue to receive that above and beyond care and support. It’s vital for families and babies on their NICU journey.

Each and every single donation could help provide a baby with a test they need or a parent with a warm coffee and safe place to sit after being with their poorly baby.

Della is now thriving and we are incredibly lucky and grateful to the team who kept our baby safe and well 🤍

KELLYS STORY

Sydnee is our youngest daughter. She died on the 12th February 2021. She was 12. This is our story. Early 2018 Syd had really itchy feet - I put it down to athletes foot and her wearing her trainers with no socks! She then started to be sick and I noticed her eyes were a little yellow. This began a 3 year battle with what was first diagnosed as a Germ cell tumour around her bile duct. We were told it was very treatable and all would be well….it didn’t turn out like that. Our brave and funny girl endured 3 constant years of intense chemotherapy & 3 very large long operation where they removed lots of her liver and finally half of her pancreas. She ALWAYS faced this with enormous bravery and humour - she was fun & very funny. We were told on December 17th 2020 that there was nothing else they could do and our girl was going to die. As a family we are broken, but we have been supported constantly by the amazing Sebastian’s Action Trust, who’s pledge is to support family’s with very sick children, forever. Even if the unthinkable should happen. They will support you for as long as you need & they have been a little bit of light, in a very dark world. We miss our girl beyond measure & life for us will never be the same - we are very different people now. This charity is amazing and 4 years down this road that no parent should have to be on they are still supporting us. We love you always Sydnee Rose Hempson 14/04/08 - 12/02/21. Forever 12.
