The team at Castlegate Financial Management have chosen to support Societi (#TeamToms) and Grantham Disabled Children’s Society this year. Over the next 12 months we will be hosting a series of activities and events within the community in aid of these two important causes. Societi is the UK foundation for Kawasaki Disease which works through partnerships to drive real change in awareness across the UK. Kawasaki disease is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in the UK. Awareness of this often destructive disease is currently poor as Kawasaki Disease has lots of symptoms in common with other childhood illnesses so it is often misdiagnosed. Grantham Disabled Children’s Society hosts events for members of the local community who have children with various disabilities, including both physical and learning difficulties. They host wellbeing sessions for parent carers to assist with mental health issues and challenges that they are facing with getting the right support for their children from local authority services. They also host events for children and their families, including trips to the cinema for private screenings, allowing children to enjoy the shows in a way which would be difficult for them to do otherwise, and local days out. We look forward to you joining us in showing support for both of these wonderful charities and making a real difference in our community.

Across the UK, many hundreds of children are affected by Kawasaki Disease every day. Some are growing up with acquired heart disease, likely to be an ever-present challenge which they will have to face. Others will be receiving a diagnosis today. Perhaps a timely diagnosis. Perhaps not.
