In October 2023, we faced a heartbreaking loss when our beloved colleague, David Edwards, took his own life after a long battle with depression. For over 25 years, he brought joy and positivity to the operating theatres at the Homerton, engaging with everyone he met, regardless of their background. His cheerful and often mischievous spirit was infectious, creating an uplifting atmosphere that brightened the days of many. His dedication to the NHS was unwavering; he consistently went above and beyond for patients and their care. He was a colleague who made one proud to work in the NHS.
Despite his vibrant exterior, few were aware of the struggles he faced with mental health.
We invite you to join us in honouring his memory by sponsoring us to run the Hackney Half Marathon on 18 May 2025. Our goal is to raise £10,000 to support Homerton Hope, our hospital charity, and Mind, a local charity dedicated to supporting people with mental health illness. Your generous donations will help provide essential resources for those in need. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no one feels alone in their struggle.
