Manchester Airport Veterans - Cumbrian Challenge
6357
In a world filled with challenges, our veterans deserve unwavering support, and we’re here to provide mental health, employment, and care coordination programs to help them get back on their feet. Join us in shaping a future where veterans thrive and families flourish – honouring the past and empowering the present.
On May 17, 2025, Manchester Airport Veterans will be taking part in the Cumbrian Challenge on behalf of Walking With The Wounded, and Manchester Airport Group's Chosen Charities
The Cumbrian Challenge is WWTW's annual flagship fundraising event for individuals, organisations, and companies who want to show their support and experience a memorable team-building weekend in the Lake District alongside our staff.
It targets those who have fallen the furthest, men and women struggling with mental health issues, unemployment, or homelessness. By providing early intervention programs and speeding up access to therapy, we are changing the lives of veterans and, crucially, their families.
Alongside this, the team also aims to raise funds for MAG's chosen charities, Magic Breakfast and The Children’s Society, in addition to its long-standing partnership with Medcare. All monies raised will be split between all chosen charities.
Having spent some time really looking at this challenge, and in the hope that by making it something even more difficult and putting ourselves through more. Several of us are now completing not just the Tougher route of 27km, but all three routes back to back, Peaks 14km, Tough 20km, and then Tougher 27km with the rest of the team. What this means is that we will be doing 61km with a total ascent of over 3200m, starting on the Friday evening, walking 34km through the night, linking up with the team at the start line for 0715 on Saturday, and completing the last 27km leg all together. We hope that by this show of extra dedication and effort from us, that it really puts across how much this means to us, and how much we are willing to do to help raise funs for good causes close to our hearts.
