The World's Toughest Row 2026 – Rowing for a Cause Bigger Than Ourselves

We are the Coastal Commanders—Scott, Martin and Jon—three airline captains taking on one of the world’s toughest endurance challenges: rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

For around 40 days, we’ll live aboard an 8.5-metre rowing boat, rowing in two-hour shifts, around the clock, battling sleep deprivation, relentless weather and the physical and mental demands of the open ocean.

But this challenge is about far more than reaching the finish line.

A Personal Mission
In 2019, Jon was diagnosed with stage 2 testicular cancer.

Following surgery and nine weeks of chemotherapy, he experienced first-hand the importance of staying active, having the support of family and friends, and maintaining a positive mindset throughout recovery. Just months after treatment, he was back competing in triathlons.

That experience inspired this challenge.

We’re rowing to raise vital funds and awareness for three charities that are making a real difference to people affected by cancer.

The Charities We’re Supporting

Young Lives vs Cancer provides practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people with cancer, along with their families, ensuring they never face cancer alone.

MOVE Against Cancer helps people affected by cancer stay active throughout treatment and recovery, improving both physical and mental wellbeing through exercise, rehabilitation programmes and community initiatives such as 5K Your Way.

The OddBalls Foundation raises awareness of testicular cancer, encourages regular self-checking and promotes the importance of early diagnosis. As a testicular cancer survivor, this mission is especially close to Jon’s heart.

Together, these charities support people at every stage of the cancer journey—from raising awareness and encouraging early diagnosis, to supporting families during treatment and helping people rebuild their lives afterwards.

Support Our Row:
Every donation, no matter the size, helps us create a lasting impact.

Your support will help fund life-changing work for our charity partners while inspiring more people to stay active, look after their health and face life’s challenges with confidence.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we can help more people not just survive cancer, but thrive beyond it.
