Remembering Rob Stabler

Remembering Rob Stabler

In memory of Rob Stabler who passed away on July 21, 2024 following a cycling accident in Devon.

Thank you to all of you for contributing to Rob's overwhelming happiness for life. His humble, unassuming gentleness was matched only by his optimism, which will forever be etched in my mind by that fantastic crinkly-eyed, open-mouthed belly laugh.

Rob was my whole world and I felt like the luckiest girl alive with him. My favourite activity was sitting behind him on a bike, being dragged around for an always enjoyable ride (even on a wet and windy Devon day). We were married in South Milton, 2 weeks before his accident, and many of you will remember just how innocently joyful we were. I can't explain the numbness right now, but I want to remember Rob in a positive way.

Many of you have approached me and the wider family about celebrating Rob and also contributing to a charitable fund. Rob would be embarrassed by any such fuss, but I do plan on organising a fitting memorial for him, which will combine his love of cheeky stories, food and cycling. I envisage this happening Spring/Summer 2025. In terms of charity, Rob organised our wedding charity donations to MSF and The Samaritans in place of a gift list. I have swapped in the Devon Air Ambulance instead of the Samaritans, as they came to our aid very quickly after Rob's accident. Do not feel any obligation, this is only in response to enquiries, but we have set up this fundraising page should you wish to contribute.

Please do get in contact to share memories with me, or distract me with an outdoor activity. It partially eases the empty loneliness.

I am very happy for this to be shared with anyone who knew Rob - I won't have everyone's contact details.
