Andy and Carl Take on the Romanian Rally

Andy and Carl will be competing in the Two Banger Rally Romanian Rally in August 2024. The trans-European rally will be completed in a Ford Fiesta! The Romanian Rally is the furthest and toughest route, passing through 6 countries - France, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. The banger rally starts on Thursday 28th August in St Quentin, France with us hoping to reach the end point in Romania by Monday 2nd September. If the car makes it that far!

Along the way we will be given a number of Top Gear Style Challenges - think best picture of your car parked in the strangest place, or even do some work with the locals. With all of this you can follow us on Facebook where we will keep you up to date with the challenges and how we are getting on, wish us luck. Our theme for this year is Ski-esta - so look out for pictures. One thing to mention Andy and Carl have no mechanical knowledge - so this really is an adventure - what's the worst that can happen!

We're delighted to support two wonderful charities that are both close to our hearts. The Principle Trust Children’s Charity help children from throughout Yorkshire who are underprivileged, disadvantaged, disabled, have life-limiting conditions, or who have experienced poverty, trauma, or abuse. They enable them to escape their troubles with their families and create valuable, happy memories that last a lifetime. They do this by providing families with a free weeklong respite holidays to their charity owned holiday homes. Their aims are to improve their mental health and wellbeing as well as being a relief from poverty, and helping improve family relationships. Because of the charity's 100% donations policy every penny donated to them will directly benefit the children and their families.

St Leonards Hospice is a charity close to both of our hearts. In October 2020 Carl's Mum, Irene Green was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, something that she bravely battled for 15 weeks, even spending her last Christmas in Hospital, though this was the last time she was to leave the house. Because with the help of St Leonards Hospice Irene was able to be at home throughout her illness, before passing away peacefully surrounded by her Family on 8th February 2021, at the age of 65 and only 3 days before her 66th birthday. Staying at home wouldn't have been possible without the help of the fantastic nurses at St Leonards. All of this took place during COVID lockdown, so had she been admitted to the hospice her family would not have been able to spend the last few days with her. This is a worthwhile charity that helps so many people and one we never thought we would have to use, but one that helped us.
