Running the Yorkshire Marathon for Two Important Causes
22013
On 18th October, I'll be running my first ever Marathon.
Last year, I signed up on a whim for the 2026 Sydney Marathon, but had to cancel when I returned to the UK earlier than planned in July of this year. Not wanting to waste all that running training, I signed up for the Yorkshire Marathon instead. I'm glad I did, as it now gives me the opportunity to raise money for 2 charities that mean a lot to me...
The Stroke Association has been an important part of my Mum's life ever since she suffered a stroke back in 2009. They've helped in countless ways, whether it be providing support and equipment, or a friendly community for my Mum to engage with others in a similar situation. These communities provide a sense of normality to those whose lives can feel far from 'normal', and are also a place where lifelong friendships are formed. I know my Mum is incredibly grateful for the support they've provided over the last 15 years.
The Brain Tumour Charity became personal to me much more recently, after a diagnosis in the family in the last few weeks. I'd never given much thought to brain tumours, but it's now clear to see how crucial funding is to increase awareness, fund further research, and provide support to those affected by this life-changing disease. It's hard to put into words the impact this diagnosis can have, especially the uncertainty that lies ahead. But, as the world’s largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours, The Brain Tumour Charity is best placed to potentially find new treatments that could help others in the future.
Any support you can give, however small, would be greatly appreciated. Your help means a lot to me, my family, and all those affected by stroke or brain tumours.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my GiveWheel page and supporting my chosen charities. Please help me reach my target of £1,000.
