The Big G&G Sewcial, organised by Guthrie & Ghani, is the annual get-together in Birmingham, UK for makers of all kinds. It’s a relaxed, friendly day to meet like-minded creatives, share inspiration and enjoy being part of this brilliant community. As well as celebrating the sewing community, The Big G&G Sewcial raises money for charity through a prize draw and tombola.
This year we are raising money in aid of 3 wonderful charities - Anawim, St Basils and Square Peg Activities.
The money that is raised through The Big g&g Sewcial will be split equally between the 3 charities and be used for general charitable activities.
Anawim - Birmingham's centre for women, offer gender and trauma responsive wraparound support to enable women to reach their potential. They work with more than 2000 women a year through advocacy, counselling, crisis intervention, and intensive long-term specialist support both in the community in Birmingham and in prison.
St Basil's is both a Charity and a Housing Association with a track record of over 50 years of providing a holistic range of accommodation and support services to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless, vulnerable or at risk.
Square Peg Activities is based in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham and is an inclusive play space for disabled children and their families. Their vision is a Birmingham where disabled children and adults can be themselves and a community where disabled people are welcomed, prioritised and understood — never needing to apologise for who they are and never squeezed into boxes that weren't built for them. Their mission is to enable disabled children, young people and adults to connect, belong and thrive — through safe, accessible activities built around individual needs.
