Knot Fast Atlantic Row - 4 Guys. 3,000 Miles. 4 Charities. 1 Mission.

In December 2027, four friends from Cheltenham — Oliver Bruce, Peter Lloyd, Tom Mayfield and Flight Lieutenant Damien Mayhew — will take on one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet: rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera to Antigua as part of the World’s Toughest Row.

Our team, Knot Fast, will cross the Atlantic completely under our own power.

There is no engine, no sail and no support boat. For weeks at sea, we will row around the clock in pairs, sleeping in short shifts and facing everything the Atlantic can throw at us — huge waves, storms, exhaustion, salt sores, equipment failures and night after night surrounded by thousands of miles of open ocean.

More people have climbed Mount Everest than have rowed across the Atlantic.

But this challenge is about far more than simply getting four friends from one side of an ocean to the other.

Four charities
We are taking on the Atlantic to raise money and awareness for four incredible charities:

The 4ED Foundation
The RAF Benevolent Fund
Meningitis Now
Under One Sky

Each supports people and families facing very different challenges, and together they give us a purpose far greater than the row itself.

Why we are crowdfunding

Taking part in the World’s Toughest Row requires a major fundraising effort simply to get a crew and an ocean rowing boat safely to the start line.

This crowdfunding campaign is therefore helping us make the entire project possible.

However, this is not simply about funding an adventure.

Throughout the campaign we will be raising substantial sums for our four charities through donations, corporate sponsorship, fundraising events and other initiatives.

And once we reach Antigua, the fundraising continues.

Following the race, our ocean rowing boat will be sold, with the proceeds from the sale being donated to our chosen charities.

Our ambition is simple: use one extraordinary challenge to generate as much money, awareness and long-term support as possible for four causes that mean a huge amount to us.

Every donation — large or small — helps move Knot Fast one stroke closer to Antigua and helps us turn this challenge into something that can make a genuine difference.

Thank you for being part of the journey.
