24 Hour Squashathon

We’ve somehow decided that playing squash for a normal amount of time isn’t quite enough, so on Friday 9th October the three of us, Jamie, Kate and Dan, will be taking on a 24 hour Squashathon to raise money for Crohn’s & Colitis UK, Devon Air Ambulance and Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The idea is simple enough: we start playing squash and, one way or another, keep going for the next 24 hours. Quite what the standard of squash will look like at 3am is anyone’s guess, but we’re fully expecting tired legs, aching muscles, a lot of caffeine and at least a few moments where we seriously question why we thought this was a good idea.

We don’t want it to just be 24 hours of people watching the three of us slowly fall apart, though. Throughout the event we’ll be inviting people to get on court and play against us, and there’ll also be plenty of opportunities to make things even harder for us with a few fun challenges along the way. So if you’ve ever fancied your chances against one of us, or simply want to pay to make us play left-handed, wear something ridiculous or generally make our lives more difficult, this is your opportunity.
Behind all of the fun, though, there’s a serious reason we’re doing it. We’re raising money for three charities that do an enormous amount of good and that each mean something to us.

Crohn’s & Colitis UK (Jamie) supports people living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, funds research and works to improve diagnosis, treatment and understanding of these often invisible conditions.

Devon Air Ambulance (Kate) provides lifesaving emergency care across Devon, getting highly skilled medical teams to people when every minute really matters.

Alzheimer’s Research UK (Dan) funds pioneering dementia research, working towards better diagnosis, new treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

We know 24 hours of squash is going to be hard, but it is still only 24 hours. 24 hours does not compare with the work that these charities support.

If you can donate, come along, play us, challenge us, cheer us on or simply share the page, we’d genuinely really appreciate it.
Every bit of support will help the three charities, and it might also be what keeps us moving when the clock says 4am and our legs have completely stopped cooperating.

Thank you for getting behind us.
