Team Sea Major row the Atlantic

On 12 December 2028 we leave La Gomera in the Canary Islands and row to Antigua in the World's Toughest Row. Unsupported: 3,000 miles, no engine, no sail, nobody alongside. Water made on board, power from the sun, no resupply. We are rowing for Central London Samaritans.

Central London Samaritans provide emotional support to people struggling to cope, including those experiencing suicidal thoughts. They've been doing this all day, all night, every single day of the year, for nearly 75 years.
No script, no advice, no judgement. Just someone to listen and to provide space for callers to explore how they're feeling. Every call is important, because we all need someone to talk to at some point in our lives, and it's good to know that someone is always there.

The branch runs on volunteers and donations, answering a call or message roughly every ten minutes, day or night. Cam has been a listening volunteer at the branch since 2019, and Harry begins his listener training this year. Samaritans was not picked from a charity list. We already know what a shift costs, and what it is worth.

What your donation does:
It costs £1,000 a day to keep the branch open. Over 400 volunteers run it, on donations, answering 51,000+ calls, emails and webchats a year. Every £1 given delivers £4.98 of support.
- £10 keeps the phones answered for 15 minutes
- £50 covers most of an hour
- £250 covers a quarter of a day
- £1,000 keeps the branch open, day and night, for 24 hours

Please give what you can!

The Central London Samaritans mission is to reduce the frequency of suicide and alleviate emotional distress by providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for people to talk. As the founding branch of the charity, its volunteers offer 24/7 support every single day of the year via phone, email, and branch drop-ins.
