THREE PEAKS. TWO BLOKES. ONE CAUSE.
On 15 October 2026, it will be exactly one year since I received the stem cell transplant that saved my life.
To mark the anniversary, my dad and I are taking on the National Three Peaks—climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales over three consecutive days.
Three peaks. Two blokes. One cause: to give something back to the charities and hospital teams that helped save my life, supported my recovery and helped get me to where I am today.
We’ll travel to Scotland on the anniversary itself, before climbing Ben Nevis on 16 October, Scafell Pike on 17 October and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) on 18 October.
ONE YEAR ON
A year earlier, I was in hospital receiving treatment for severe aplastic anaemia: a rare and life-threatening condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce enough blood cells.
My transplant gave me the chance to recover and rebuild my life. Reaching three summits alongside my dad will celebrate how far we have come while helping others facing a similar journey.
WHY WE ARE FUNDRAISING
We are supporting five beneficiaries that each played a different but important part in my story.
Anthony Nolan matches people in need of a stem cell transplant with potential donors, supports patients and families, and funds research into transplant care.
DKMS recruits potential stem cell donors and helps give more people with blood disorders a second chance at life.
The Aplastic Anaemia Trust is the only UK charity dedicated solely to aplastic anaemia, providing patients and families with information, support, and a community.
We will also support the charitable funds connected to the two hospitals at the heart of my treatment.
The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Charitable Fund covers Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, where I was first admitted and diagnosed.
Nottingham University Hospitals Charity covers Nottingham City Hospital, where I continued my treatment and received my stem cell transplant.
Together, these organisations help people find lifesaving donors, fund specialist care, and ensure that patients and families do not face rare blood disorders alone.
HOW THE MONEY WILL BE SHARED
GiveWheel will automatically divide the net funds raised and distribute them directly to the five charities:
• 34% to Anthony Nolan
• 25% to DKMS
• 25% to the Aplastic Anaemia Trust
• 8% to the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Charitable Fund
• 8% to Nottingham University Hospitals Charity
The Anthony Nolan allocation will also contribute towards my fundraising commitment for the 2027 London Marathon, which I will run as part of Team Anthony Nolan. We are working with the charity to ensure that it is correctly attributed.
My dad and I will cover all our own travel, accommodation, equipment, and challenge costs. Nothing will be deducted from public donations to fund the challenge.
We would, however, be delighted to hear from local or national businesses and organisations interested in sponsoring an element of the challenge. Opportunities could include having your logo featured on our challenge banner and in related updates and publicity. If your organisation might be interested, please contact us at [email protected].
THE CHALLENGE
The National Three Peaks are:
• Ben Nevis — 1,345 metres
• Scafell Pike — 978 metres
• Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) — 1,085 metres
Together, they mean approximately 23 miles of walking and 3,000 metres of ascent—plus a considerable amount of travelling between them.
We have chosen three days rather than the traditional 24-hour challenge. It will still mean three consecutive mountain days, early starts, long journeys and some very unpredictable October weather.
Safety will always come first. If severe weather, illness, or circumstances beyond our control mean that a mountain must be postponed or cannot safely be completed, all donations will still be distributed in the percentages shown above.
ONE CAUSE
This challenge is about much more than reaching three summits.
It is about marking a year that, at one stage, was difficult to imagine reaching. It is about thanking the donor, charities, medical teams, family, and friends who made it possible. And it is about helping others receive the match, treatment and support they need.
Five beneficiaries, but one shared cause: giving more people the support, treatment and second chance that I was fortunate enough to receive.
Every donation—whatever its size—will make a difference. Thank you for supporting us. We’ll carry every donation, message, and word of encouragement with us to the top.
Three peaks. Two blokes. One cause.
