Jim's Glasgow Half Marathon for Sight Loss Support

Thanks for taking the time to visit my GiveWheel page and supporting my chosen charities - Visibility Scotland and Saltire Strikers Tenpin Bowling.

Jim's Glasgow Half Marathon: Running for Ross... Words can’t explain how incredibly proud we are of our boy, Ross.

For those who don’t know, in January, Ross was diagnosed with Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), a rare genetic condition that has no cure. His vision has deteriorated rapidly, and he is now registered as Severely Visually Impaired (Blind).

Our lives have changed, but we know Ross will succeed in anything he chooses to do in life, and we will support him every step of the way. He is an incredible young man who has shown the utmost resilience, strength, and bravery. Even through all of this, he still cares more about how others feel over his own feelings.

The Challenge

Inspired by Ross’s bravery, I am taking on the Glasgow Half Marathon on October 4th, aiming to cross the finish line in under two and a half hours. almost definitely maybe 3 hours!!

To make those 13.1 miles count, I am raising funds to support two fantastic organisations that do vital work for visually impaired people across Scotland and have personally helped us as a family.

The money raised will be split:

80% to Visibility Scotland: A wonderful charity we now hold very close to our hearts. The work they do to provide rehabilitation, emotional support, and essential services is amazing.

20% to Saltire Strikers Tenpin Bowling: A fantastic club that brings visually impaired people together.
A Ten pin bowling group for visually impaired people, bringing together fun, friendship, confidence, and community — one strike at a time.

Any donation, big or small, will give me that extra push during the run and mean the world to us.

Love from The Donaldsons ❤️
