On the 3rd of September, Abbey and I will be taking part in the Aberdeen runway run. Where we will run 3.5 km along the entire length of the lit runway at midnight. This event raises money for three amazing charities and this year they are Friends of ANCHOR, Kayleigh's Wee Stars and We Too! The money will be split evenly between all three.

A little about each charity

Friends of ANCHOR

The ANCHOR Unit is a collective of specialised wards and clinics within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - the central hub of cancer and haematology care for the North-east of Scotland.
We invest in medical equipment and pioneering research to push the boundaries in how we diagnose, treat and care for people, while our pledge to promote clinical excellence includes funded development programmes for NHS clinical staff to enhance knowledge and expertise.

Kayleigh's Wee Stars

We have established Kayleigh’s Wee Stars to provide financial support for families where a child has a terminal illness.
Kayleigh’s Wee Stars is based in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire and is run by 5 trustees and our CEO, who all work together to maximize the charity’s fundraising efforts to enable families to be supported when they need it.

We Too!

Originally named “Me Too!” was founded in Summer 2015, by a local parent, frustrated with the fragmentation of information in Aberdeen City and Shire when looking for activities for her disabled son. The idea was to produce a free, quarterly “What’s On” Guide for her community.
We Too! also delivers bespoke ASN/Customer Service Training to organisations as well as 6 week parent/carer and sibling courses.
