Alexandra’s London to Paris Cycle for Nepal
19840
My name is Alexandra, I am 11 years old, and I am taking on an incredible challenge: cycling 350 miles from London to Paris to raise money for The Gurkha Welfare Trust.
For more than 200 years, the Gurkhas have served with bravery and loyalty, but many veterans and widows now face serious hardship in Nepal. Some struggle to afford basic things like rice, vegetables and firewood. (Gurkha Welfare Trust told me)
The money I raise will help support the Gurkha Welfare Trust’s monthly Welfare Pension, which provides £112 a month to veterans and widows who need it most. My target is £5,000, which could also pay for a new motorbike for the charity’s field team, helping them reach vulnerable pensioners living in remote villages.
My mum and dad will be coming with me, not to complete the challenge for me, but to provide adult supervision and keep me safe throughout the journey. I will be navigating the route, carrying my own equipment and taking responsibility for completing every mile.
I want to show that no matter how young you are, you can still make a real difference.
This will be a huge physical and emotional challenge, but I am determined to keep pedalling, knowing that every mile will help support Gurkha veterans and widows who have given so much.
Please support my London to Paris journey by donating whatever you can and sharing my fundraising page.
Together, we can turn every mile into food, warmth, support and hope for people who really need it.
Thank you for supporting me and this incredibly important cause.
