100km charity swim

In July I'm aiming to swim 100km…10km a day for 10 days…to raise money for the Samaritans and the Friends of Jesus Green Lido.

I love swimming. I hope I'll still love swimming after 100km! I'm taking on this challenge to raise money for a couple of charities that are close to my heart...

Samaritans: For the past three years, I've volunteered as a Samaritan at their Cambridge branch. I've witnessed first-hand the impact the service has. Samaritans are there 24/7 for people experiencing loneliness, distress, despair, or thoughts of suicide. They provide a safe, non-judgemental space where people can talk openly and be heard, often at some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

Friends of Jesus Green Lido: Jesus Green Lido is a very special place for me. As well as having spent many, many happy hours swimming there, it's also somewhere I've found friendship and a wonderful sense of community. The lido is unheated, open all year round and 100 yards in length, making it the longest outdoor pool in the UK. The Friends of Jesus Green Lido work to support, promote and protect this unique space, helping to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy it.
