7 marathons in 7 days to celebrate turning 47

Inspired by Sara Cox, I’ve decided to attempt to run 7 marathons in 7 days to celebrate turning 47. None of the marathons are official marathons, they’re just me running around Shrewsbury using my Garmin to measure the distance!!!

I’m running for Severn Hospice, Lingen Davies, and The Harry Johnson Trust. All 3 charities do so much good for the local area and support a huge part of the community.

I used to run but fell out of love with it. 2 years ago I started Couch to 5k, but gave up because I really didn’t enjoy running. However, I love raising money for charities but am a firm believer that if you’re going to ask someone to sponsor you it has to be because you’re doing something dreadful. This was the worst thing I could think of!!!

I’ve been training really hard since January (roughly 13 session a week / 2-3 hours a day) and it’s been tough. I’ve had to completely overturn my life, learning about nutrition, saying no to nights out because I have to train, and taking my trainers everywhere (literally everywhere). It’s felt like a full-time job, but I’ve also started a new job in this time so have had a lot to balance.

However, that is nothing compared to what the people the charities support are going through, and they are the people who matter the most. I have a close link with each of the charities and think all of them give so much to the community.

I expect I’m going to find this challenge incredibly tough (I’ve never done anything like it before) and am just so grateful if you can donate anything.

Thank you.
