Station to Summit

On the 27th June, 4 firefighters from Ramsey Fire Station will be taking on a challenge. We will be carrying a dummy on a stretcher from Ramsey fire station up sky hill to east mountain gate, along the ridge of North Barrule and then making our way back to Ramsey Fire Station.

The reason for this challenge is to raise as much money as we can for 3 amazing charities, The Firefighters Charity, The Great North Air Ambulance Service and Isle Stand Up To Suicide.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides help and support to all members of the firefighting community (whether serving or retired) as well as their families. They provide a wide range of services, which include physical health, mental health and social well-being.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service are the only emergency helicopter Air Ambulance Service that cares for the people in the Isle of Man when they need it the most. Ramsey station have worked alongside GNAAS at previous incidents so we know first hand how vital they are to the island as well as the North East of England, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

Isle Stand Up To Suicide provide support to those who find themselves in suicidal crisis. They not only provide a phone line to those in crisis but also provide training to explore the complexity of suicide, start the conversation and have the confidence to ask someone if they are having suicidal thoughts.

Ultimately, Isle Stand Up To Suicide aims to work to reduce the number of lives tragically lost in the Isle of Man to suicide.

The team taking on this challenge are Paul Lyness, Ash Collinge, Matty Kaighen and Jake Richmond. This will be an extremely strenuous challenge climbing an elevation of 2400ft but with great team work we are sure we’ll be successful.

If you are able, please donate what you can to these very worth while causes.
