Scottish Half Marathon 2026 - In Loving Memory of Olivia Tuohy
16518
It goes without saying that a day does not go by that we don’t miss Olivia, think about her, or talk about her. Olivia was a hardworking, caring, and vibrant person who embraced life and lived every day to the fullest. As well as living life to the full, helping others was always at the heart of who she was, whether in everyday life or through her work as a nurse.
For those of you that don’t know, Olivia was tragically taken from us far too soon while competing in the Edinburgh Half Marathon last year.
Running was something Olivia loved (although finding a new coffee shop at the end of a run may have been a close second!), and now, over a year on, we have come together as a team made up of some of her closest family and friends to run the Scottish Half Marathon in her memory, as well as raising funds for two vital charities close to all our hearts.
Olivia was from Ennis, County Clare and moved to Edinburgh to study nursing, where she met her partner Michael and went on to qualify as a nurse at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Edinburgh became her second home, where she built lifelong friendships and found a second family.
The Scottish Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 16 August 2026, and we are raising funds for The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust provides repatriation support to bereaved families, helping bring loved ones home to Ireland. During the most devastating time for our family, the trust provided invaluable support in bringing Olivia home to her hometown of Ennis. This service was provided entirely free of charge and was made possible purely because of charitable donations to allow the trust to continue supporting families in need.
CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) is a charity dedicated to raising awareness of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) in young people. They fund vital medical research, provide heart screening programmes for people aged 14–35, and offer bereavement support to families affected by sudden cardiac death.
The finish line of the Scottish Half Marathon is close to where Olivia became ill, adding another level of emotion onto what will already be a very emotional day for everyone.
If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, your support will make a meaningful difference in helping these charities continue their incredible work and lifesaving research. All donations raised will be split equally between the two charities.
