Running for Sands & John King Brain Tumour Foundation
16400
I will be running the Richmond marathon on Sunday 13th September 2026 for the two amazing charities below.
Please give generously where you can
Since my father-in-law Richard was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour in 2021, we have been supporting John King Brain Tumour Foundation raise vital funds to support the battle against one of the UK's deadliest and most under-funded cancers and helping those living with a diagnosis navigate better than those before them. Richard lost his battle in 2024, but not before raising almost £100k to build a wonderful roof garden outside one of the main cancer wards at St George's Hospital. We opened that roof garden this summer thanks to JKBTF's continued work, where patients and staff can now find respite and escape from their daily pressure. Focus now turns to funding more research equipment to improve the detection and treatment of Brain Tumours and also to start renovation of the children's ward at St George's.
The second half of my fundraising will go to Sands - baby loss charity who do wonderful work supporting parents who have suffered unimaginable pain at the loss of a baby. Last year, two of my best friends went through that pain and, whilst nothing could heal the pain they were dealing with, they assured me that Sands had been some comfort to them both during their grief. They are so grateful to know that any funds raised will support other families going through similar grief, whilst praying no more families have to.
