Ali Walker's 24-Hour Memorial Row

Ali Walker's 24‑Hour Memorial Row is a heartfelt celebration of a woman who meant so much to so many. Our Ali, who passed away on 17th January, was a cherished and popular member of Tudor Sailing Club. She was known for her warmth, positivity, elegance and the way she could brighten any room simply by being in it. She was, quite simply, a lovely lady, and she remains deeply loved and remembered by all who knew her.

From 6pm on 19th June to 6pm on 20th June, her beloved boat Friendship, will take to the waters of Langstone Harbour for a continuous 24‑hour row. Multiple rowers will carry her spirit across the tides, honouring her strength, kindness and the joy she brought to the club and all those that knew her.

As Friendship returns to shore at 6pm on 20th June, we’ll come together for a celebration filled with everything Ali loved - live music, good food, drinks, laughter, and a generous raffle to keep the fun flowing. Tickets to the celebration, or donations to support the row, will be split equally between Cancer Research and Naomi House & Jacksplace, two causes selected by the Walker family.

This event isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a tribute. A gathering of friends. A moment to remember someone extraordinary in a way that feels full of fun, love and laughter - just like Ali herself.

Want to row or cox? Join us!

We’re inviting anyone who would like to support the fundraising to sign up to row or cox during the 24‑hour journey. Every stroke helps carry Ali's memory across the harbour she loved.

As Friendship approaches the finish at 6pm on 20th June, we hope to create a beautiful on‑water procession. Boats, kayaks, paddleboards - all are welcome to join and accompany Friendship for her final stretch, filling the harbour with colour, laughter and camaraderie. The evening celebration will follow, filled with live music from local musicians, food, drinks, laughter and togetherness, just as she would have wanted. The £12 ticket includes entertainment, a strip of raffle tickets and food (jacket potatoes with a choice of meat and vegetarian fillings). All money spent on tickets and the raffle will be donated to the chosen charities. Drinks and desserts can be purchased at the club.

Tudor Rowing will also be hosting a Summer Solstice Row at around 3am on Saturday 20th June, and other boats are warmly encouraged to join Friendship on the water during this magical moment.

Slots are 1 hour or 2 hours long, sign up your interest here:
