David Hollander's 72-hole, longest day Charity Golf Challenge - Harewood Downs Golf Club
16354
I'm after your support! At 05:00 on Sunday 21st June, I'll be stepping onto the first tee for a huge challenge.
From sunrise to well into the evening, I'm aiming to play 72 holes of golf in a single day - that's four full rounds, back-to-back, on the longest day of the year. I won't be finished before 21:00. I appreciate this isn't a 26-mile run, so let me put it in perspective:
1. I have never played 72 holes in a week, let alone in a day
2. My personal best is 34 holes in a day - I'm doubling it.
3. I'm an 18-handicapper, not a scratch player. Over four rounds I'll likely rack up enough extra shots to constitute a fifth round all by myself.
4. Harewood Downs is one of the hilliest courses in the Home Counties. Most people consider 18 holes a decent workout.
5. My previous fundraiser for charity was growing a moustache. The bar for effort, I'll admit, is low
But here's what matters. Every penny raised will be split evenly between two wonderful local charities - Scannappeal (https://www.scannappeal.org.uk/) and Restore Hope (https://www.restorehope.org.uk/) both based near me, and both doing vital work supporting people in our community when they need it most.
Please donate - whatever you can. Big or small, every contribution counts and goes directly to the shared total.
Sunrise. 72 holes. One day. Two brilliant causes.
Thanks again, David
