Paddle, Peak, Pedal - The Welsh Challenge!
16296
Eight friends led by Paul Thorburn aim to undertake a significant challenge kayaking from Mumbles, Swansea to Anglesey in North Wales, climbing Snowdon and then cycling back to Swansea over 12 days.
The motivation is simple, to raise as much money as possible to help find cures for two devastating diseases, Prostate Cancer and Motor Neurone Disease.
Many of us have family and friends who have suffered through these diseases and we've all seen the terrible impact of MND on legends of sport once considered man mountains - Doddy Weir, Rob Burrow, Lewis Moody and Kenny Waters to name a few.
We'll be recording our trials and tribulations on Facebook and Instagram, as well as popping up on BBC Wales TV, so be sure to watch out for us and follow along for some fun at our attempts to learn to kayak and get some semblance of fitness!
Every pound raised will be split evenly between Prostate Cymru and the MND Association.
Many thanks to our sponsors; DJM Charitable Trust, Swansea Building Society, V3 Group, WCS Agency, Jones Brothers (Henllan) Ltd, Everywhen, Total Building Control Ltd, EasyBooks.com, Cosgrove Brown and Acuity Law for their generous donations.
Sincere thanks to Gus and the team at Escape Watersports for liaising with P&H Sea Kayaks who have kindly provided the Scorpio kayaks and thanks also to Castell Howell Foods for assisting with the delivering of the kayaks from Runcorn to South Wales. A real TEAM effort!
