2026 emap and Metropolis Mental Health Hike - 30km!

This year, along with staff and colleagues from
across the emap/ Metropolis Group, the emap Mental Health First Aid team will
be taking on our longest walk to date, covering an incredible route
starting in Wandsworth Town and following the river all the way to Hampton
Court on the 3rd September. It’s a beautiful stretch, but at
an impressive 30km distance it’s definitely one that will push
us.
All monies raised for this event will be split 50/50 between two incredible
charities, The Brain Tumour Trust and the Doing It For Daniel Foundation.
We would be incredibly grateful for any donations, no matter how big or small,
you can spare for these two truly worthwhile charities, as every penny donated
will not only allow both charities to continue the incredible work they do, but
will also help spur us on to the finish line - 30km is no mean feat!
On behalf of our charity partners, thank you for your support!

The Brain Tumour Charity
Charity nominee Georgie Fahay shared with us why this charity means so much to
her.
“In February 2024, our world was turned upside down when my husband, Dan,
was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma at just 37 years old. It’s an
aggressive, life-limiting condition with a very poor prognosis, and receiving
that news—especially with two young children—was heartbreaking.

Since then, however, Dan has continued to defy the odds. He has undergone
three brain surgeries, along with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and we were
also able to raise funds for him to access a pioneering immunotherapy treatment
not yet available on the NHS."

“The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and
largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally.

Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further, faster to
help every single person affected by a brain tumour. We’re set on finding new
treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change.
And we’re doing it right now. Because we understand that when you, or someone
you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour – a cure really can’t wait.”

Doing It For Daniel Foundation
“Doing it for Daniel Foundation provides financial assistance for children
and young people with a cancer diagnosis at the Royal Hospital for Children in
Glasgow and The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre by funding special
gifts, experiences, days and holidays. We treat each application individually
and support children in whatever way we can. We also support brain tumour
research, particularly focusing on the childhood brain cancer DIPG.
As well as supporting the hospital, the charity has a holiday home in the
seaside town of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland where every week it hosts
families from every corner of the UK who have children suffering from brain
cancer, as well as families who have lost a child  from this devastating
illness and are attempting to come to terms with and reflect upon their
loss."
