Critical Care 30 mile Challenge/Charity fundraising Walk

Critical Care 30 mile Challenge/Charity fundraising Walk

Critical Care James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough

30 mile Critical Care Charity Challenge fundraising Walk on Sunday 10th Sep.

The team taking on this challenge comprises Critical Care staff (including members from across the whole MDT) plus several of our colleagues from other specialties who also knew our Consultant colleagues Brett Webster & Steve Bonner (both who sadly died last year).

We will be raising money for two charities nominated by Brett's family (Help for Heroes) and Steve's family (Suubi Africa Uk).

The 30-mile Esk Valley walk is from the source of the River Esk near Blakey Ridge, following the river (with a few ups and downs along the way!) all the way to the sea at Whitby. Most people complete the walk over 2-3 days but we will be doing it in one day, starting at 0600 and finishing...when we get there!

The walk will be on World Suicide Prevention Day; particularly poignant as we remember Brett and also our previous Clinical Director, Fiona. As well as being a way to remember our friends who left us far too soon, we hope that the walk (and 4 training walks already completed) is a great chance for members of the team to get out in the fresh air for some exercise, whilst also getting to know our colleagues a little bit better.

We are all very grateful for your support.
