The Stag National is our village’s own take on the Grand National — a fun, slightly chaotic and brilliantly entertaining day of hobby horse racing, bringing together our community in Low Crosby for something truly memorable. Expect fancy dress, teams, laughter, a parade ring atmosphere and a whole host of side events, all designed to create a day that people of all ages can enjoy. At its heart, the event is about bringing people together — friends, families, locals and visitors — to share in something light-hearted but meaningful. But beyond the fun, The Stag National has a clear purpose: to raise vital funds for charities that make a real difference to lives close to home. We’ve chosen to support Oak Tree Animals’ Charity because of the incredible work they do rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals across Cumbria. Their compassion and dedication give animals a second chance, and as a community that values care and responsibility, this felt a natural fit.We are also proud to support Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Children’s Hospice, who provide outstanding care and support for both adults and children with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families. Their work offers comfort, dignity and compassion when it matters most, supporting people through the most challenging times with incredible kindness and expertise. They are a charity that touches so many lives across our community, and supporting them is our way of giving something back.By taking part, donating or simply coming along, you’re not just enjoying a great day out — you’re helping these charities continue their vital work. The Stag National is about community, connection and making a difference, all in one unforgettable day.

Team Hobby Horse Race
£20.00
Team Relay Race (Max 5 per team) Round up your crew, pick your running order and take on the course together. One rider at a time, passing the baton (or horse!) as you go — expect teamwork, dodgy handovers, plenty of shouting from the side lines and a bit of friendly chaos. Fastest team takes the glory… but style and spirit definitely count.
Under 12 year olds Hobby Horse Race
£2.00
Single Rider Races It’s just you, your horse and the course. No team, no backup — just you and your trusty steed taking on the jumps and racing for the finish line. Speed helps, but control, style and a good sense of humour go a long way. It might not be pretty, but it will be entertaining… and the crowd will be cheering you on all the way.
13 - 16 year olds Hobby Horse Race
