20 years ago, Sport 4 Life was just an idea.An idea that sport could be more than a game. That it could build confidence. Unlock potential. Open doors to employment. Change futures.
Today, nearly two decades on, thousands of young people across the West Midlands have taken steps towards brighter futures because of that belief.
Now, we’re inviting you to take your own steps, and help power the next 20 years of impact.
RISE UP 2026: Miles for Milestones is a collective fitness challenge celebrating 20 years of Sport 4 Life UK. Together, we’re aiming to travel 20,000 kilometres - and every kilometre counts.
Every step walked.Every mile run.Every length swum.Every road cycled.
Each one represents a young person moving closer to employment, confidence and independence.
As we hit key distance milestones - 2,000km, 5,000km, 10,000km and beyond - we’ll unlock powerful moments from our 20-year journey. Stories of resilience. Breakthroughs. First jobs. New qualifications. Young people who refused to give up.
And with each milestone, we’ll share fundraising updates that show not just how far we’ve travelled, but how many more young people we can support with your help.
Why it matters
Right now, too many young people face barriers beyond their control, from low confidence and limited opportunities to mental health challenges and financial hardship. Sport 4 Life uses the power of sport to build the key skills employers look for communication, teamwork, resilience, and self-belief.
Your participation doesn’t just log kilometres. It raises vital funds to provide mentoring, employability support, qualifications and safe spaces where young people can grow.
How it works
1. Choose your challengeWalk, run, cycle or swim - take part your way. Join as an individual, with friends, or as a corporate team.
2. Track your kilometresConnect to your Strava to automatically log your distance throughout the campaign month and contribute to our shared 20,000km goal.
3. Unlock milestonesAs a community, we’ll reveal powerful stories from our 20-year history and celebrate standout achievements - from the first person to hit 100km to the first company to reach their team target.
4. Stay inspiredYou’ll receive regular updates, shout-outs, and milestone reveals to keep you motivated every step of the way.
This is more than a fitness challenge
It’s a celebration.It’s a movement.It’s 20 years of impact - and 20 new milestones waiting to be reached.
So lace up, log your miles, raise what you can.
Because every kilometre you travel helps a young person take their next step towards a brighter future.
Are you ready to rise up?
