St Nick's Yorkshire Three Peaks

The staff at St Nick's are once again asking for your support as we take on the challenge of the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for some charities that are very close to our hearts.

Pseudomyxoma Survivors supports people affected by the rare cancer pseudomyxoma peritonei, offering information, community support, and advocacy. They also help fund research and raise awareness to improve outcomes for patients and families. We chose this charity in memory of our dear friend and colleague Laura McAleenan, who sadly passed in January.

Parkinson’s UK drives pioneering research to find better treatments and ultimately a cure for Parkinson’s. They also provide nationwide support services, helplines, and local groups to help people live well with the condition. So many of us have family and friends who are affected by Parkinson's, and the work of Parkinson's UK is invaluable to them and their families and carers.

St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice delivers compassionate palliative and end‑of‑life care for people with life‑limiting illnesses across mid and south Cheshire. They support patients and families with medical, emotional, and practical care. A local charity that has a huge impact in our community.

Bethlehem Care & Hospice Trust provides vital palliative care for elderly and terminally ill people in Bethlehem and the surrounding area, where access to end‑of‑life support is extremely limited. They work to enhance quality of life, dignify death, and support bereavement for families facing challenging circumstances. We chose this charity in memory of our much loved vice-chair of governors, John McDonald, who gave so much to the school and passed away earlier this year.

All money raised will be split evenly between the charities.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a seriously tough challenge: a 24‑mile trek taking on Pen‑y‑ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, with over 1,500 metres of climbing and some brutally steep sections. It’s a test of endurance, grit and stubborn determination, usually tackled in under 12 hours by those brave enough to try. Sponsoring this effort means backing a challenge that absolutely earns every pound.

Thank you in advance for your support, it means so much to us.

Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a vast range of support from end-of-life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to assisting patients to return to work after an illness.
