Remembering Matt Parkin
In loving memory of Matthew “Matt” Parkin<br><br>Matt was a devoted son, father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, proud dog dad, and a loyal friend to so many. He was at the heart of his family and will always be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the way he brought people together. He truly was one of life’s greats, and to know him was to love him.<br><br>A skilled carpenter by trade and an exceptional farm hand, Matt worked alongside his dad on the family farm with dedication and pride. He was someone who could turn his hand to anything and do it well. Whether at work or at home, he gave his all and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.<br><br>Matt truly valued life’s simple pleasures — spending time with his beloved wife Jenny, daughter Ruby, his brother Chris, his father Lionel, and his dog Buzz. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially walking in the Peak District, often followed by a few well-earned pints — he loved “six pints and a mint leaf” — a phrase that will always bring a smile to those who knew him. He was sociable, kind-hearted, and full of life — someone who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.<br><br>On 1st April 2026, Matt was involved in a serious car accident. After a week of fighting in the Intensive Care Unit at Sheffield Northern General Hospital, he sadly passed away on 9th April due to the severity of his injuries. Matt passed surrounded by those that loved him.<br><br>Even in passing, Matt’s selflessness has left an incredible legacy. As a registered organ donor, he was able to save the lives of four people through the donation of his vital organs — a final act of generosity that reflects the kind of man he was.<br><br>In honour of Matt, his family have chosen to support several charities that played a vital role in his care: Sheffield Hospitals Charity, The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC), NHS Blood and Transplant, and Air Ambulances UK.<br><br>Over the next 12 months, this page will remain open to allow family and friends to take part in various fundraising events in Matt’s memory, with the goal of raising £10,000 for these important causes.<br><br>Matt’s loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. He will be missed every single day. While the space he leaves behind can never be filled, it is our hope that through this fundraising effort, some good can come from this tragedy — and that Matt’s legacy of helping others will continue.<br><br>Any donation, no matter how small, means so much.
