Chorleywood to Dartmouth on a pedal powered quadracycle
250 miles - 8 days - 1 mission - to raise money in aid of Brain Tumour Research and Keech Hospice Care

We are a team of eight, all in our 50’s and by no means athletes, who will be pedalling our way from Chorleywood in Hertfordshire to Dartmouth in Devon, cycling approximately thirty miles a day. We expect the eight days to be a test of endurance as we navigate our way from Hertfordshire through Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset eventually arriving in Devon.

The quadracycle, fondly known as "The Quadfather", is a heavy, gear less, four wheeled cycle which seats four. It is the sort of thing you would see and pedal for fun at the seaside! We bought the Quadfather as a wreck and have lovingly restored it back to life but these things were never really meant to go up hills!

We have been inspired to raise money in aid of Brain Tumour Research and Keech Hospice Care by Betsy Griffin who lives in Chorleywood. Betsy, who is 12 years old, is an amazing young lady who became blind following a brain tumour at the age of two. Betsy has achieved so much, having her own YouTube channel and even writing a book “Out of the Woods”. Betsy is known for her energy and amazing positive outlook on life.

In planning and preparing for this mammoth journey, we have come across so many people whose families and friends have been touched by brain tumours. Three of our team have close family members who have had tumours, one of which as recently as last year, making the trip and the desire to raise money in aid of these charities all the more personal and important.

We know this trip will be challenging but we hope that we can bring smiles to peoples faces as we travel through five counties to reach our destination and ultimately raise a lot of money for these deserving charities!
