Rachel's run - the London 2026 marathon

I am lucky to have a spot in the 2026 London marathon. I would love to raise some money to celebrate and support two wonderful organisations.

Charity number one is Macmillan Cancer Support. My mom describes the care she received from Macmillan nurses in a really moving way. I don't have the words to express my appreciation for what they did and the kindness they showed. This marathon is for my mom and anyone fighting or recovering from this cruel and scary disease. I hope any money raised goes a little way to support more people going through cancer so they feel seen, listened to and cared for in the way they should.

Charity number two is Women Asylum Seekers Together (WAST). WAST do amazing things for women seeking asylum living in Greater Manchester. As a grassroots network, WAST fight for women's rights and raise awareness of the many injustices built into the asylum and immigration system. I hope that any money raised offers a little extra support to some of the remarkable women that walk through WAST's doors.

Every single penny donated is greatly appreciated by me and will be split between these two charities. I'll be an emotional mess on marathon day and although it will take some effort to get to the end(!), there are so many brave and wonderful women I'll be thinking of every step of the way.

Thank you so so much for any words of encouragement and support you have shown me.

With love and gratitude,
Rachel
