For them. For change. Running for Judy & Jonathan

In 2024, my parents, Jonathan and Judy Bloomer lost their lives aboard the Bayesian yacht.

I was fortunate to have the very best of parents and while their loss has reshaped my world, the extraordinary legacy they left behind lives on.

Throughout their lives, they poured their energy, compassion, and conviction into charitable work. They believed deeply in showing up, doing what they said they would do, creating positive momentum, and real change where it mattered most, by helping others.

Their impact, although never loud or showy, was powerful, steady, and transformative for the people and causes they supported.

I’m running these challenges to honour that legacy and to carry their work forward. This fundraiser supports two charities that meant the most to them, with donations split equally between NSPCC and The Eve Appeal. These two organisations are dedicated to protecting futures, saving lives, and creating the kind of change my parents always believed in.

This isn’t just about running. It’s about continuing the work they started. It’s about turning grief into momentum. It’s about moving forward, just as they always encouraged me and others to do.

The Three Challenges:

1. The Backyard Ultra - Weymouth 1st May 2026.

The first test is a backyard-ultra marathon by the sea in Weymouth. A relentless endurance race: run a 4.167-mile loop every hour, on the hour, until only one person is left standing. No finish line, just pure determination, stamina, and the will to keep moving forward. Over 20 friends and family are joining me on the start line, each of us pushing ourselves and each other as far as we can. It’s a challenge built on community, grit and the belief my parents held so strongly: that people are capable of far more when they stand together. With that in mind, if anyone fancies joining us, the team is still growing so drop me a message and get involved!

2. The North Downs 50 - Finishing Where They Lived - 16th May 2026

Next is a 50-mile ultramarathon along the North Downs Way, ending in the village my parents called home. Crossing that finish line near their home will be emotional, but it feels right. This is a symbolic return, a way to bring the miles home to them.

3. The Dragon’s Back - The Final Test - 7th - 12th September 2026

The last but definitely not least is the Dragon’s Back Ultra - the world’s toughest multi-day mountain race. Running 380km of rugged terrain down the spine of Wales with over 16000m of ascent. Brutal. Beautiful. Unforgiving. Exactly the kind of challenge that demands courage, resilience, and heart, just some of the qualities my parents lived by every day. Less than 40% of starters tend to finish. I will be on that finish line.

Why I’m Doing This

Because Jonathan and Judy were more than parents.

They were changemakers. They led by example.

They left the world in a better place than they found it.

These miles are for them. For their legacy.

To help others. For the causes they believed in.

Every donation, big or small, helps continue their impact and helps others less fortunate to move forward.

Thank you for helping to carry their legacy on.
