5 Marathons in 5 Days – An Epic Challenge Around Anglesey
11349
This June, three determined ladies from RAF Valley are taking on an extraordinary challenge in support of two charities very close to their hearts — the RAF Benevolent Fund and Cancer Research UK.
Starting on 19th June 2026, Wg Cdr Penny Butterfield, Emma Estep, and Amy Plank will set off from RAF Valley, aiming to complete the entire Anglesey Coastal Path — a breathtaking but gruelling route covering five marathons in five days. Their journey will take them all the way around the island, finishing back at RAF Valley on 23rd June 2026, having completed over 130 miles of stunning and challenging terrain.
From rugged cliffs and golden beaches to quiet country lanes and wild headlands, the team will experience the island’s full beauty (and brutality!) one mile at a time.
As keen runners and proud members of the RAF Valley community, the trio wanted to combine their love of running with a challenge that truly pushes their limits — both physically and mentally — while giving back to causes that mean so much to them.
The RAF Benevolent Fund provides lifelong support to serving and former RAF personnel and their families, offering help when they need it most.
Cancer Research UK funds vital research to beat cancer sooner, a cause that touches so many lives across all communities.
Every mile, blister, and early morning will be worth it if it helps raise vital funds and awareness for these two incredible organisations.
If you’d like to support Penny, Emma, and Amy on their epic journey, please consider donating and sharing their story — every contribution will help make a difference.
Together, we can help change lives — one marathon at a time.
