Team Jon Over – For Jon
It is with enormous sadness that we share that Jon died on Monday, 17 August 2026, surrounded by the people who loved him.

Our hearts are with Marie, their two girls, his parents, and all of Jon’s family and friends. They have faced everything that Motor Neurone Disease brought with extraordinary courage, love and strength, and they remain at the heart of everything Team Jon Over has done – and everything we will continue to do.

Team Jon Over started with a simple idea: to get Jon around a marathon.

It became something much bigger.

On 26 April, Jon completed the TCS London Marathon, taking in the sights and spirit of the capital with Al, Barney and Vinny alongside him.

Just two weeks later, on 10 May, he did it all again at the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, completing another 26.2 miles in his specially modified pushchair, powered by a huge rotating crew of friends.

But the marathons were only ever part of the story.

Across the country and beyond, friends, family, former colleagues and people who had never even met Jon have run races, climbed mountains, cycled enormous distances, organised events, taken on personal challenges, donated money, shared his story and sent messages of support.

To every single person who has been part of this: thank you.

Thank you to everyone who pushed Jon, ran beside him, fundraised, donated, volunteered, organised, supported, cheered, shared and simply showed up.

You gave Jon and his family something extraordinary. You turned a terrible diagnosis into a demonstration of friendship, community and love. Jon knew what Team Jon Over was achieving, and he was enormously proud of it.

And we are not finished.

Jon set Team Jon Over a target of £100,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Somerset Village and Community Agents.

We intend to reach it.

This fundraising page will remain open, and Team Jon Over will continue. There will be more events, more challenges and more opportunities for people to get involved. We will keep going until we reach the £100,000 goal Jon set us.

And perhaps, in true Team Jon Over fashion, we might just keep going beyond it.

Every pound raised will continue to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Somerset Village and Community Agents, helping other families facing MND and supporting vulnerable people in local communities.

Jon brought an extraordinary group of people together.

That doesn't end here.

So whether you donate, take on a challenge, share Jon’s story, join one of ours, or simply leave a message for his family, thank you for being part of Team Jon Over.

We started this with Jon.

We will finish it for Jon.
