Gift Aid is a tax incentive in the UK that enables charities to receive an extra 25% on donations from UK taxpayers. This means that for every £1 donated, the charity is eligible to claim an additional 25p from HMRC.

Gift Aid allows charities to increase the value of the donations without any extra cost to the donor. This additional income has the power to make a significant impact - every year charities depend on the generosity of their fundraisers and supporters to provide critical services, implement facilities, support their communities, and to affect positive change on a large scale.

To qualify for Gift Aid,  you need to be Eligible! You must be a UK taxpayer, either income or capital gains tax, and have paid an amount of income of capital gains tax equal to or greater than the amount the charity will claim in Gift Aid for your donations in a tax year. You’ll need to complete a Gift Aid declaration to confirm your Eligibility.

For donations through GiveWheel, there is a tick box option to ‘Add Gift Aid’ located just above the donate button on our fundraising pages, making it an easy and simple way to include it with your donation.

Gift Aid is a valuable tool for charities in the UK to maximise the impact of donations. It's a straightforward process for donors that can significantly increase the funds available to charitable organisations to support their causes and initiatives.
