Over the past few days, my family, friends and I have hiked to the top of Helvellyn and Scafell Pike to support The Children's Trust, a charity that supports children with brain injuries. I found that climbing with friends and for such an important cause made a great difference as it is much more fun and you are more motivated to keep going. All your donations, which have been incredibly generous, also stimulated me to reach the top and I am so thankful as they will make a big difference to many children impacted by brain injuries.
Our first climb took us up Helvellyn with some breezy weather conditions. Nearer the top, the clouds lifted and we had a spectacular view of the peak and the valleys below, encouraging us to take the more challenging path down, Striding Edge. Two days later, with blue skies and sunshine, we hiked up Scafell Pike via the Mickledore route, which was quite a scramble nearer the top but very rewarding as an experience. I am so proud of what we have collectively achieved and I just want to thank you all!
Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for your very generous donations so far, which will have such a big impact on children with brain injuries. As the dates for our climbs are approaching rapidly, I thought to share an update. You will be happy to know (I certainly was!) that your donations made it to the front of the givewheel Easter newsletter. I have just received a fundraising pack from The Children's Trust which contained t-shirts (for the climb), a colourful banner, some fun pencils, further information on how they use your donations and a very beautiful letter. My friends, who are joining me for the climb, and I took a picture to keep you all in the loop. We will send more updates from the actual climb next month. Thank you again so much for your support!
Lots of love
Matilde
Our second highest peak, which features a very scenic route past the Red Tarn lake and up on the ridge to the summit!
I found this beautiful picture of Scafell Pike, our highest summit goal!
