Winston's Wish is a bereavement charity supporting children, young people and their families after the death of someone important.
Winston's Wish were the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity and have been supporting grieving children and young people since 1992. We continue to lead the way in providing specialist child bereavement support services across the UK. Winston’s Wish provides emotional and practical bereavement support to children, young people and those who care for them. Our expert teams offer one off and ongoing bereavement support and we also provide online resources, specialist publications and training for professionals.
In 2021, we supported an estimated 22,778 children and young people after the death of a parent or sibling. This is a devastating situation for a child, but with the right support at the right time, delivered in the right way, we know they can go on to lead full and flourishing lives.
could provide four of our specialist publications, which offer parents and professionals advice and guidance on how to help bereaved children cope with their grief.
could enable us to provide one child with a memory box that can be used to store treasured objects, helping them to remember their loved one in a way that is personal to them.
could fund two calls to our Freephone National Helpline, which is the gateway to our services, offering parents, professionals and children therapeutic advice.
